One reason why we have developed this website is to share the poetry it carries. We would like very much to expand it to include poetry and photographs by other travellers. If you have produced a collection of poems and photos about a particular part of the world, and would like it added to poemsandplaces.com, please get in touch with us at wordsmith@clix.pt. If you haven’t written much (or any) poetry and would like some initial help in writing your own poems of travel, then our travel poetry tutorial might work for you. |
|
The Tutorial offers some poetry theory, but only enough to support your practice. It will quickly take you into the process of writing poems based on photographs you have taken. It suggests steps you can follow to turn very straightforward writing of the kind you would put on a postcard or in a travel diary into something more powerful, more permanent, more musical, more meaningful—more poetry. It takes examples from the Images of the World books we have so far published and from the work of other poets. It will, we hope, help you become confident in your own poetry-writing skills, and give you ways in which you can explore your travel experiences and ‘fix’ them in words, pictures, even books. If you would like a copy of the Tutorial, click on the Tutorial button below. |
